Social Justice has become so du jour in the Church. Everyone's doing it, and oddly enough, it's not just within the confines of the Church that it's happening. Citibank is advertising their service to the community. Ford is having a contest where the best community project gets $150,000 AND a free F150. The world is catching onto what the Church has known for its entire existence - that we were made to serve each other and if we really expect things to get any better, it's going to be because people start loving and serving each other.
Legend wants to be that kind of Church. That's not going to happen through programs or through "ministries." It's going to happen because we as a group of people have been changed by who Jesus is and what Jesus has done in and to and through us and naturally we're going to be a part of that in our community. Logistically at Legend, that looks like our mission groups - we see all of that funneling through those groups. So if you want to really impact Oakley with us - you need to get into a group!
